Philosophy
I believe great images come from a relationship between photographer and subject. I spend as much time as possible getting to know my clients, through face-to-face meetings, phone calls and e-mails. I also whole-heartedly believe in having fun with my job, and I don't hesitate to jump in the middle of the dance floor with my camera, crack jokes, or make funny faces at children (and adults). Conversely, I recognize the moments that are quiet and sacred, and will quietly capture those as well. The result is a delightful mix of fun, zany and wild pictures combined with touching and romantic images.

About the Photographer
I grew up in the small town of Harmony, Maine-population 800. My parents were part of the back to the land movement, and moved from Philadelphia with my sister to 27 acres in the woods of Maine in 1982, two years before I was born. There they built a small 20x20 foot cabin, dug a well and planted a garden. The homestead they built was off the grid until 1995, and we got an indoor toilet in 1998. I spent much of my childhood digging in the dirt, playing in the woods, and reading a lot. I am 100% committed to running a sustainable, ecologically and socially sound business. Whenever possible, I try to support local businesses, and I encourage all my clients to do the same. Read my advice on planning a green wedding.
I first got interested in photography in my junior year of high school, at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics. I started out with my parents Pentax K1000, shooting and developing black and white film, and then saved up to buy my first digital camera. After a year studying new media at the University of Maine in Orono, I transferred to the University of Southern Maine in Portland, and changed my major to studio art.
My images have been published in Real Maine Weddings, Antiques & Fine Art, The Boston Globe, the New York Times, Portland Magazine, The Sunday Times, and others. My commercial clients include Historic New England, Chipstone Foundation, Northeast Auctions, and others, primarily in the Antiques industry.
I live in a small but cozy condo in an old mill building in Somersworth, New Hampshire with my fiance Meg, and our daughter Lucy.
Testimonials

Andrew and a Bride, October 2008
Andrew was recommended to me by a friend. We hired him to take our Engagement Photos as well as Wedding Photos. We were amazed and blown away by the quality of his work, it truly is fine art. Not only that, but he provided us with the photos RIGHT away. He was always prompt, showed up before he was supposed to, and made us feel at ease. The wedding day was hectic (what wedding isn't?), but he was a pro and made me feel calm. I didn't even notice he was there most of the time, and he was able to capture the most special parts of our day. It was so nice when I saw the photos he took of our wedding day, most of the moments he captured I didn't even remember until seeing the beautiful photos. I HIGHLY recommend Andrew. Thanks again!

Andrew is great! He is a very professional and attentive photographer, and really captured our wedding in creative images. He is very laid-back and easy to work with, and knows his equipment very well. Our online gallery was up in record time, and we were floored with many of the shots, as getting married is such a whirlwind affair that one doesn't always remember every second. The images were mostly people-centric, however we also didn't have a lot of still life aspects to our wedding that would warrant capturing.

WOW...that's all we can say right now...they are everything I hoped they would be.
Thank you so much Andrew.

"You are very personable, responsible, and reliable. It was a pleasure working with you and you can be certain that I will recommend you to anyone looking for a photographer. I feel so lucky that I was able to find someone as yourself - whose photos I knew I would treasure always, but that I wouldn't be making payments on eternally. Finding you was surely a blessing."
-Mary
"Thanks Andrew....and thanks too for your wonderful pictures and your quiet presence. The pictures clearly demonstrate that you were in the midst of the moment but I never felt you were in any way changing the moment by your presence."
