About The Company
Andrew Davis Photography is a photography and design company located in Somersworth, New Hampshire, and serving New England and beyond with top quality, inspired photography.
Andrew Davis has been honored to photograph subjects as diverse as island weddings, state governers, politicians, musicians, family pets, and exquisite art and antiques. An almost graduate (expecting to graduate in May of '08) of the University of Southern Maine, he was raised in a small town called Harmony, Maine by 'salt of the earth' parents who built their own home, grew their own food, and taught him the meaning of hard work. Three years at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics, a magnet school in far Northern Maine, provided a solid foundation in technology, math and science that would serve him well in his creative pursuits. It was his senior year in high school that he picked up his first digital camera, started experimenting in the black and white darkroom, and his interest in photography took off from there.
Andrew is equipped with the equipment, expertise, and creativity to tackle nearly any project. (Photo geeks, and those who like long lists, check out my gear.) Whether you are a bride looking for phenomenal wedding photos, a senior or family looking for portraits, or a company looking for high quality photography, design, or one stop shopping to complete a catalog, call 207-299-5921, or e-mail andrew@davisphotos.com.

Commitment to the Environment

I
firmly believe that every one of us has a stake and responsibility
in keeping the planet green and healthy, and I do everything I can to
reduce my impact on the environment, and to support the local economy.
A brief list of some of the things I do, and what others can do to become
more aware of, and reduce, their environmental impact:
- Check out your eco-footprint at earthday.net. Mine is 14 acres, which is not as great as I would like, but much better than the US average of 24 acres.
- Nearly all my photography is done digitally, reducing the use of
photographic chemistry. My camera equipment is manufactured by
Canon, a company dedicated to environmental and social responsibility.
From their
website:
Canon's corporate philosophy has been kyosei — which we define as "all people, regardless of race, religion, or culture, harmoniously living and working together into the future." - I reduce energy consumption by using compact fluorescent bulbs and a flat panel monitor instead of a TV-like CRT. Speaking of TV's, I don't have one.
- Buy local, buy local, buy local. Buying locally reduces greenhouse gas emissions, strengthens your local economy, and builds community on so many levels. Not only do you get to know the individuals producing and selling the stuff you buy, but you keep tax dollars in the town, and help individualistic locally owned businesses thrive.
- I use a messenger bag by Timbuk2, made in California for my laptop. My flash system is by Quantum, made in Long Island, New York, with a rechargeable battery that saves many many AA batteries from going in to the landfill.
- I walk and ride my bike to get around as much as possible. I try to plan my errands to minimize the driving I do.
- During the summer, I shop at farmer's markets, and have several times purchased a CSA share, which is a great way to support a local farm and get awesome food all season.
